The Course: Biology colloquium is designed to give you an introduction to current topics in the field of Biology through invited speakers. The speakers are not paid and they may spend considerable time preparing their talks and traveling to our institution. It is imperative that you show them the utmost respect. Coming late to the presentation, leaving early, talking, using cell phones, eating and/or drinking, or any type of disruption are all considered disrespectful, and they will not be tolerated.

Seating: Students must fill seats from the front of the room.

Grading: This course is graded CR/NC. Any two (2) violations, listed below, will result in a grade of NC.

Violations: Coming in late or leaving early, talking, taking out a cell phone, cell phone ringing, eating/drinking, using a computer, sitting in the back of the room, or any disruption your instructor admonishes you for.

Attendance: You are allowed to miss one (1) presentation, with the exception of April 6 and May 4. Attendance on April 6 and May 4 is mandatory. Attendance will be verified by handing in the proper attendance sheet to your instructor at the end of the presentation. Your instructor will accept only one attendance sheet per student. Handing in an attendance sheet for another student is considered cheating and both you and that student will receive a grade of NC for the course.

Attendance sheet: Here is the attendance sheet. Cut to size and fill it out at the beginning of the class. If your instructor asks for it and it is not filled out that counts as a violation. Illegible, uncut, and/or sloppy forms will not be accepted.

Cell phones: Turn off your cell phone and put it away. If your cell phone rings and/or you are caught with it out that counts as a violation.
