Program Requirements

This program has two tracks depending on which concentration a student chooses.

a. MS in Ecology and Sustainability with a concentration in Ecological Conservation.

b. MS in Ecology and Sustainability with a concentration in Ecological Economics.

Both concentrations require a total of 36-37 units of courses, including 17 units in core courses shared by both concentrations and 19-20 units in concentration courses. The concentration courses include 6 thesis or project units.

If a student wishes to complete both concentrations, he/she will have to do both sets of 19-20 concentration course units. The student will still only earn one MS degree.

Required Core Courses for students in both concentration, 17 units:

BIOL 5030 Ecosystem Services and Ecology 3 units

BIOL 5500 Quantitative Ecology and Methodology 4 units

BIOL 5010 Advanced Writing in Environmental Science 4 units

BIOL 5961 Graduate Seminar in Ecology and Sustainability 3 units
            (1 unit/semester;  taken 3 separate semesters)

PADM 5310 Environmental Planning, Policy, and Law 3 units
