Delta
Is at the Heart of California's Water System

- Water flowing through the Sacramento-San
Joaquin River Delta (the Delta) is the main source of supply for two major
California water delivery projects, the State Water Project and the federal
Central Valley Project. From these projects, a majority of Californians rely
on water flowing through the Delta for all or part of their drinking water.
In addition, approximately one-third of the state’s cropland uses water
flowing through the Delta.
- The state has spent over $2 billion over
the past five years in the CALFED Bay-Delta program to help protect and
restore the Delta.
