Corral Hollow Down Hill practice

I took my Canon Speedlite 430EX to the Corral Hollow DH practice on 4/21 and I used it quite a bit. It worked pretty well but it is not that powerful so I had to get really close to the action. But like Sea Otter last week you could get inches away from the riders and I used my 17-85 mm almost exclusively again. However, I did get hit, not seriously, by one rider and I had to roll out of the way of two others For a relatively low level external flash it did pretty well as long as I was fairly close to the subject. It did a pretty good job of eliminating many of the shadows, particularly those that you normally get in the faces, and it gave some pretty good colors. But if I did this for a living I'd get a much more powerful unit.
