Sycamore Canyon
Pt. Mugu, California
January 13, 2012

Impy got me out on my first ever mtbr ride many years ago and it's always a pleasure riding with her. So I couldn't pass up an invitation to sample some warm SoCal riding in the middle of January. However, I haven't ridden with her in 6-7 years and she has become quite the aerobic animal since. So I was a bit concerned about keeping up. She claimed to be out of shape, but she seemed pretty strong to me. We did a pretty good tour of Sycamore Canyon in Pt. Mugu State Park, on the coast north of Malibu.

The weather was spectacular and so was the scenery. It was surprisingly green, felt very remote, and it was hard to believe we were so close to the crowded metropolis of L.A. There were some nice scenic fire road climbs and some really nice single track climbs and descents. The singletrack climbs were especially enjoyable because they were very challenging, but just doable for me. Thanks for a great ride Impy!
